Ironing Tips

Ironing can be a difficult task for some but if you know some techniques in ironing it will make your life a lot easier. As for me, I have had years of experience on ironing work clothes so it became so easy years after years. Here are some of the ironing tips for your reference.

When you dry your clothes make sure to take them out from the dryer while it's still hot.
Your clothes become too wrinkly when it's too dry therefore you should ease them out right after you dry them. Ease them out and place them on the hanging rack to completely dry if still moist.

Read the labels and sort your clothes before ironing.
Iron shirts and other clothes that requires low to medium heat  first to avoid burning sensitive clothes like silks. When your iron has been on high heat it'll be difficult for you to iron clothes that requires low heat and may lead to a disaster. Always remember to read the labes on each clothes and iron them according to the label instructions. Some clothes needs to be ironed inside out or iron with cloth on the top.

Moist the clothing before ironing.
It is impossible to iron a completely dry clothing so it is necessary to slightly spray it with water to a certain degree before it is ironed.

Do not wear your shirts or any clothing  right after ironing
No matter how slick you have ironed your clothes it will be wrinkled when worn right after you iron them. It needs to dry completely before wearing them to avoid wrinkly spots. Hang your shirt nicely and wait for at least 10 minutes to dry.

Closet Disaster after Ironing your clothes nicely.
You have ironed them nice and slick but then again hanging them inside the closet causes them to become wrinkly. It happens and it can be frustrating when you do not have the time to re-iron them. You can simply hang your shirt inside the bathroom just before you take a shower. The steam on the shower smoothe the wrinkly spots.

Bleach Alternatives

Chlorine bleach is not safe for you, your family and the environment. Using it to whiten our clothes or cleaning is dangerous for our health. It causes skin irritations, pulmonary problems like colds and allergic rhinitis. There are some safe alternatives we can use at home as bleach like lemons, hydrogen peroxide and more.

Removing stains from clothing
Pour lemon juice over the stained area. Then rubbed the area with salt and place the clothing out in the sun for a few hours then wash as usual.

Clothes whitener
Add a cup of lemon juice on your wash cycle to boost the whitening action of your laundry detergent.

or
After mixing your laundry detergent in your washing machine, add in 1/2 to 1 Cup of Hydrogen Peroxide. Soak for a couple of hours or half day for best result before washing. (water must be hot)

Removing stains on countertops, kitchen sink or bathtub
Make a paste of baking soda and lemon juice. Apply to the affected area and leave it to sit for a few hours and wipe it clean.

Ways to keep fresh cut flowers last longer

Do you ever wonder how to keep your fresh flower last for a week or more?
Below are the secrets I have tried at home without buying  flower food. In caring for your fresh fowers, you have to make sure you do the following:

a) Place the flower onto a bucket of water or vase once you get home. Flowers that have been cut from it's stem needed a source of water right away.
b) Prepare any of the choices below for your flower and prepare them onto your choice of vase.
c) Remove all the leaves that will get into the water, this is one of the main reason why the flowers don't last. The leaves rot when wet.
d) Get a a sharp knife or a flower shear to cut 1 to 2 inches from the bottom of the stems in an angle for better water absorption. Using household scissor is not advisable in cutting flower stems.
e) Arrange the freshly cut flowers into your prepared vase.
f) Change the water regularly, every other day is usually advised. As you change the water, remember to cut 1 to 2 inches from the bottom of the stem.

Ways to keep your flowers last.

1.) Put a drop of bleach onto your vase. This keeps the water from getting cloudy and inhibit the growth of bacteria.

2.) Dissolve 3 tablespoon sugar and 2 tablespoon white vinegar per liter of water. When you fill the vase, make sure the cut stems are covered 3-4 inches of prepared water. The sugar nourishes the plants and the vinigar inhibit bacterial growth.

3.) Crushed one aspirin onto the water before putting your fresh flowers.

Note:
Do not spray water directly into the flowers. This lead to rotting of the petals and flowers won't last. Some flower shop spray their flowers with water to make them look fresher  but this is not advisable, although some flowers love being sprayed with water, remember this is not always the case for each type of flower.

Homemade-Green Tea Toner

Every women would agree that in order to have a clear and smooth looking skin we have to follow a regular beauty regime. Cleanse, tone and moisturize.

Before I became a homemade fanatic I use to buy and experiment on different kinds of skin products like facial wash, facial cream, moisturizers and toners. Then I came across a blog of women who uses homemade beauty products and I was amazed and convinced. It is really cheap, easy to make and it's good to know the ingredients of the product I'm using for my skin. Then I know it's safe and won't harm my skin. After searching for good homemade skin products I've decided to make my own version of Green Tea Toner. Green tea is antioxidant, can reduce skin inflammation and increase the skin's elasticity. Green Tea Toner can cleanse and reduce the appearance of pores and gives the skin a youthful glow.

Here are the ingredients I use in making Green Tea Toner
100ml hot water
2 Green Tea bag
1 tsp Glycerine
2 Tbsp Rose water

Steep 2 Green tea bags in a 100ml hot water and leave for at least 30 minutes. I leave it for a couple of hours for a better result.
Discard the tea bags and add the Glycerine and rose water. Glycerine helps to make your skin softer.
Some people add other ingredients like lemon, honey or baking soda, I omit them this time since I use lemon and honey as my facial cleanser.
Transfer your toner in a small bottle or in a small spray bottle. You can keep this in the fridge for a week or two.

Use Green Tea Toner at least twice a day after face cleansing and before applying your moisturizer. Simply wet a facial cotton and apply to a clean face as you would for any toner.

I even spritz green tea toner on my face in the middle of the day during hot summer days.
There you go, your cheap and easy to make Green Tea Toner.
